After being diagnosed with testicular cancer last year, Dave Cook, 24 from Ormskirk, decided he wanted to give something back to the consultants, nurses and charities that supported him through his treatment.

So, Dave decided to organise a sponsored charity event – a sponsored walk? No; a charity auction? No! Dave organised a trip to Istanbul – in a black London cab!! Their aim – to raise more money than the taxi meter reads when they reach Istanbul.

The event, which is appropriately called the ‘One Ball rally’ started from the Clock Tower in Ormskirk is taking in 10 countries with stops in:

                            Ormskirk

London
                     Brussels
                     Frankfurt
                     Salzburg
                     Budapest
                     Szeged
                     Bucharest
                     Burgas
                     Istanbul

This amounts to a trip of 2350 miles. Not only was the plan adventurous, but Dave's mode of transport has certainly been a talking point on the way. Dave and his team have had a few strange looks on the way in their black cab, along with a couple of fines!

But there was a serious point to their trip – the group want to raise as much money as possible for research into testicular cancer. Dave is also keen to raise awareness of what can be an embarrassing subject for men, to give optimism to those men who are currently fighting testicular cancer
