party poppers, drunk champagne (well...fizzy grape juice!) and sang Auld Lang Syne.

Created 29 March 2009

On Monday 23rd March 2009, 3rd Burscough Brownies brought the Caribbean to Burscough by holding a tropical inspired café to raise money for the Girlguiding Branch Associations.

The Brownies decided to raise money for the Girlguiding Branch Associations – branches of Girlguiding UK in UK Overseas Territories. The money raised will be used to build an Internet Café in the Caribbean Island of Anguilla where girls can access valuable resources and have a safe place to study.

The Brownies learnt all about the different Branch Associations and inspired by the Associations situated in the Caribbean, like Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands, for one night only the girls opened an ‘Island Café’ at the Burscough Methodist Church Hall. The Brownies served tropical drinks and cakes and then entertained the guests with Caribbean songs. There was even a round of limbo to finish off the night. Everybody had a great night and the Brownies raised £80.00 for the internet café project.
