Created 20 June 08

On 13 - 15 June 2008, 6 Guides and 3 leaders from 3rd Burscough Guide Unit went to the 'Come an Camp' event at scarisbrick campsite, near Southport.

The theme we chose for our camp was 'The Four Seasons', aiming to go through the year in a weekend So on the Friday night we arrived and put up our tents. After pitching our camp we soon got onto the fun activities - and what's the only way to begin the four seasons theme? New Year of course! We pulled party poppers, drunk champagne (well...fizzy grape juice!) and sang Auld Lang Syne.

We quickly moved on to Valentine's Day, making Valentine's biscuits, and then the Guides presented a Spring time drama.

Bedtime came round quickly...and there wasn't much sleep had by the guides or the leaders!! Before we knew it morning was here, and our first chance to make a fire. To celebrate pancake day we had pancakes for breakfast.

Then we made lots of gadgets for our site (see picture above). We made a washing stand, a bin bag holder, shelves to put our bags on, welly pegs and one Guide even made a wigwam out of twigs and leaves! After gadgets we celebrated Easter with an Easter egg hunt which all the Guides enjoyed.

Making Gadgets - we love to hammer!

Later on in the day we made Father's Day gifts, played a wide game, made a flag pole, got VERY muddy and joined in with another Guide Unit for a campfire. Then it was bedtime...and this time everybody DID sleep because we were all very, very tired.

The next morning came the most exciting part of the weekend - Christmas Day! None of the Guides knew about what was going to happen and the leaders had to wake them up at 8am singing Christmas songs. When they finally rose, the Guides found that Santa had been - in the middle of Summer! And each Guide opened the present Santa had left for them.

After a bit of Archery and lunch it was suddenly time to strike camp (pack up!). Parents soon arrived to take the girls home and our adventure was over. The weekend went so quickly and fun was had by all. But we are all looking forward to the next camp already!
